NeoShoDo — Privacy Policy

NeoShoDo is a handwriting-tracing app published by Spaikz LLC (“we”, “us”), on the web, iPhone, iPad and Android. This policy says what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We collect the minimum the app needs to work.

What we collect

• Your account. Signing in with Google or Apple gives us an account identifier and, from that provider, your name, email address and profile photo URL. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see or store a password.
• Your progress. Which letters and characters you have mastered, so it follows you between the web, iPhone and Android. Stored as a list of character identifiers — nothing else.
• Your settings. Theme, ruled-paper style, writing hand, reading language, and the script and style you last chose.
• What you have bought. Which script packs and font packs your account owns, and the store’s order identifier for each, so a purchase unlocks everywhere and a refund can be honoured.
• A contact address, only if you type one. Offered only when your account has no email — which happens with Apple’s “Hide My Email”. Optional, and unverified.
• Usage analytics — on this website, and only once you sign in. For signed-in accounts the website uses Google Analytics to count page views, sign-ins, completed characters, and when a checkout is started. It records no handwriting and no payment details. Google Analytics sets an identifier in your browser so repeat visits in the same browser can be recognised. It does not start until you sign in, and it stops if you sign out — so browsing the site and using the free demo are not measured at all. The iPhone and Android apps contain no analytics.

What we do not collect

Worth stating plainly, because for an app like this it is the obvious question:

• Your handwriting never leaves your device. Tracing is scored on the device itself. Only the identifier of a completed character is ever sent — never the strokes you drew.
• No crash reporting, and no analytics in the apps. The iPhone and Android apps contain no analytics, attribution or crash-reporting library at all. The website uses Google Analytics, described above.
• No advertising, no advertising identifier, and no cross-app tracking.
• No location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone. No device identifiers, other than the browser identifier Google Analytics sets on this website once you are signed in.

On the web you can try the demo without an account at all, in which case nothing is collected — not even analytics, which does not start until you sign in.

How we use it

To run the app: to sign you in, to save and sync your progress, to unlock what you have bought across your devices, and to withdraw access if a purchase is refunded. That is the whole list. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own purposes.

Who processes it for us

These companies handle data on our behalf, under their own privacy policies:

• Google — Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Cloud Functions run accounts, progress and purchase records. Google Play is the seller for purchases made in the Android app.
• Apple — Sign in with Apple, and the App Store as seller for purchases made on iPhone or iPad.
• Stripe — checkout for purchases made on this website, as merchant of record.

We never see your card details. Payment is handled entirely by the store or by Stripe; what reaches us is which pack was bought and an order identifier.

Deleting your account and data

You can delete everything yourself, from inside the app, at any time — Settings or Profile → Delete account, on Android, iPhone, iPad or the web. Doing it anywhere deletes it everywhere. Android and iOS also offer Reset progress, which clears your mastered characters and leaves the account alone.

Two things outlive the deletion, and both are listed here rather than buried:

• A purchase record — the store order identifier, which pack it was for, and your account identifier — kept up to 90 days so a later refund can withdraw the pack it paid for, then deleted automatically. It contains no name, email or photo.
• Operational server logs that may include your account identifier, kept 30 days and then discarded automatically.

Separately and outside our control, Google Play, Apple and Stripe each keep their own record of any transaction, as the seller. Requests about those go to them, not to us.

Children’s privacy

NeoShoDo is a general-audience educational app, and using it requires an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy; the “last updated” date above changes with it. If a change is material we will say so here rather than quietly reword it.
